Airmodular, Alternative Electronic Rock band
was formed in 2009 by Cy Donovan - former bassist of well-known NYC Alt Rock bands Paint and Aerovox. Upon setting out on his own, Cy enlisted classically-trained
singer and pianist Sueyoung Yoo - a South Korean native. As Airmodular, the two released their first EP entitled “Fallen In The Void”, inspired
by Postpunk bands such as The Cocteau Twins,
and Electronic Goth Rockers Nine Inch Nails. A second EP followed,
“Resistance”, which led to their first
LP “Vindication Day”. It was this nationally-received and radio-friendly
record that fused all of their influences, cultivating a sound in their own eclectic
fashion.
Airmodular’s new LP “Hour Of The Wolf” brings a darkness
yet still has its bright moments. Enlisting Soren Roquentin, from the Synthpop band The Lot, on Cello, programming
and mastering duties brings to the table a deeper sound to the record.
Sueyoung Yoo’s high melodic Soprano as always forms a nice
counterpart to Cy Donovans baritone vocals.
Airmodulars “Hour Of The Wolf” transcends their debut LP,
taking listeners to new creative and melodic frontiers - a clear
statement from Donovan. This may be Airmodular’s finest hour.
